Therapies List

Counselling/Psychotherapy

This broad category covers a range of practitioners, from career counselors to psychotherapists who treat depression, stress, addiction, and emotional issues. Formats can vary from individual counseling to group therapy. Some therapists may also incorporate bodywork, energy healing, and other alternative modalities as part of their practice.

Coaching/Life Coaching/Executive Coaching/Mind Coach/Brain Training

Life Coaching aims to help and empower you to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. This can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential and achieving ambitions. Using techniques such as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and proven psychological principles, a coach provides the tools and guidance to face difficult situations and push past emotional barriers.  Coaching empowers you to make the changes you need to make, without judgement or opinions. Your coach will not tell you what to do, but will help you to question your own thinking and take control of your own mind and life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It’s most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

Emotional Freedom Technique / EMDR

EFT is an energy healing technique that works with acupuncture points, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) uses rapid eye movement. Both therapies desensitise emotional issues and blocks that are ‘stuck’ in the unconscious and causing us pain, phobias, anxiety, fear or emotional reactions we have no conscious control over.

Hypnotherapy

A means of bypassing the conscious mind and accessing the subconscious, where suppressed memories, repressed emotions, and forgotten events may remain recorded. Hypnosis may facilitate behavioral, emotional, or attitudinal change such as weight loss, or smoking cessation. It is also used to treat phobias, stress, and as an adjunct in the treatment of illness. Hypnotherapy is also very effective for stress, anxiety, confidence and many other issues.

Meditation

There are many forms of meditation. The best kind is the practice of taking your mind to gym! The idea of mindful meditation is to train your brain and take control of your thinking (which is the primary cause of emotional suffering!) Meditation exercises are helpful for stress, anxiety, depression and life balance.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness has become a catchword, but is the most ancient of all healing disciplines. Mindfulness is more than living in the present, or enjoying nature. Mindfulness practice is designed to train you to be self aware of your thoughts, and how your own thinking is affecting your experience of life. The person who is truly mindful would be self aware and present even in the midst of chaos.

Nutritional Therapy

More than simply telling you what nutrition is or isn’t, a good Nutritional Therapist will advise you on what is right for your body type and metabolism. You are what you eat is not merely a flippant saying, it is utterly true – what you eat affects you more than you think! Food affects MOOD. Food can make you irritable, anxious or depressed as it affects your chemical balance. A Nutritionist will tell you what to eat, but also what NOT to eat for your personal optimal health. Not everybody is the same.

Physiotherapy

Service provided by Surrey Heath NHS Community Physiotherapy  for NHS patients and by other therapists for Private patients

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.
